WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WNCN) — The Coast Guard rescued a 59-year-old man on Saturday from a yacht that was sinking in Masonboro Inlet.
A 29-foot boat from the Coast Guard crew from Station Wrightsville Beach received a mayday call at 9:37 a.m. while on patrol.
The 60-foot yacht named Somewhere in Time was taking on water with one man aboard after the yacht stuck a rock jetty.
The Coast Guard crew arrived on scene at 9:40 a.m. The crew transferred the man and returned to the station with no reported injuries.
The yacht named “Somewhere in Time” sank and TowBoat U.S. has been notified.
A TowBoat U.S. representative in Wrightsville said the sunken yacht is a Sea Ray Sundancer.
A 60-foot Sea Ray Sundancer named “Somewhere in Time” was recently listed for sale for $699,000, according to Atlantic Yacht and Ship.
The yacht features 3 staterooms, 2 full restrooms, a galley and twin inboard engines that create 1050 horsepower, according to the listing on Atlantic Yacht and Ship’s website.
