Day 6
Logged 859 nautical miles
Winds are NW at 10-15 kts apparent

Day began with winds still blowing very strong. During the night we had alot of squalls and decided to lower the double reefed main and run with the storm jib only. This was still serious sailing despite the little cloth we had out. Day break came only to realize we had torn our main and our lazy jacks were in the water. Big clean up job to do in 15-20 ft waves. All got done and all are safe. We had a good night last evening with winds down to 10-15 knots sailing with our storm job and genoa till midnight and genoa only since then. Today we will try to store the main to keep her out of the UV rays as the seas are calming. We sure are looking forward to those trade winds.
Everyone is in good spirits and holding up very well. We are eating three good meals a day with a hot dinner. Parker is a trooper and has not missed a meal yet.
