NEW YORK STATE CANAL SYSTEM NOTICE TO MARINERS.
Mariners are advised, as weather and conditions permit, portions of the Champlain Canal are scheduled to open on Sunday, 5/22/11. An exact schedule for opening the Champlain Canal will be published in a subsequent Notice to Mariners.
Due to continued high water and excessive flows, the Oswego Canal, Cayuga-Seneca Canal and the Erie Canal from Lock E-23 (Brewerton) to Lock E-26 (Clyde) will remain closed for the foreseeable future. An estimated opening schedule in these areas will be determined early next week. Further notices will be issued as this schedule is developed.
